Litigating SOGIE before the African system of protection of Human Rights

Event Description

The Initiative for Strategic Litigation in Africa (ISLA) and the SOGIE Working Group will host a side event to share key recommendations from recent strategy consultations and present the SOGIE Litigation Research Mapping Database, a new resource to support coordinated strategic litigation and advocacy for SOGIE-related rights in Africa.

This event provides an opportunity to reflect on current trends in SOGIE-related litigation before regional human rights bodies, discuss the challenges facing litigators and activists, and propose strategies for strengthening protection of sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, and sex characteristics rights across the African continent.
