Women’s platform Convening

Event Description.

The Women’s Platform is a collective of women’s rights organizations engaging within the African human rights system. The Platform was established to strengthen coordination, amplify advocacy, and deepen engagement between civil society and the Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Women in Africa (SRRWA).                           

                                                                                                                                                                                          The Women’s Platform convening seeks to workshop a short, usable set of feminist principles to guide advocacy and coordination, and also providing a feminist legal analysis of AU-CEVAWG, focusing on key definitions and state obligations that can be translated into public-facing advocacy. It further aims to map anti-rights actors within the African human rights system and their influence strategies, as well as to consolidate collective next steps for effective feminist engagement.
